It's not whether you're right or wrong that's important, but how much money you make when you're right and how much you lose when you're wrong - George Soros

Freddie is our Head of Dealing and joined Dowgate Wealth in November 2020. Originally from Blackpool, Fred began his investment career With Hargreave Hale in his hometown. After 17 years with the same firm, he then moved to Canaccord when it acquired Hargreave Hale in 2017. He is their eyes and ears in the market helping to discover price anomalies, dealing efficiently, always with a high level of professionalism and integrity.

For Freddie, it’s more than just a job, and he derives great satisfaction from being involved in raising growth capital for companies that are helping to make the world a better place, such as renewable energy and electric vehicles.

His hobbies include football, cycling and running, and he has completed 5 half marathons. He is an admirer of George Soros, who believes that whilst it is good to be right it is more important to win big when you are. Investors should therefore never be obsessed about being right and it is just as important to cut your losses when you are wrong – hopefully not too often.
